Warga Pesisir Diminta Waspada Potensi Rob Hingga Awal Februari

Coastal Residents Urged to Stay Alert for Tidal Flooding

Residents living along North Jakarta’s coast are urged to stay alert for potential tidal flooding (rob) forecast from January 27 through February 3, 2026.

Coastal people must increase their preparedness

The warning follows a report from the Tanjung Priok Maritime Meteorological Station (BMKG), which noted that a maximum high tide will coincide with the Full Moon phase, also known as Perigee.

Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Head, Isnawa Adji stated that this phenomenon could trigger a significant rise in sea levels across North Jakarta's coastal areas.

Officials Confirm Jakarta is Fully Flood-Free

Isnawa added that the peak of the high tide is expected to occur between 5 AM and 11 AM, with several neighborhoods identified as high-risk zones.

The potentially impacted areas include Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, Muara Angke, Tanjung Priok, and Seribu Islands.

"Coastal people must increase their preparedness, as these high-tide cycles can last for several consecutive days," he expressed, Wednesday (1/28).

BPBD is also urging residents to monitor shifting weather and sea conditions, which can change rapidly. Further, the public is advised to avoid activities in coastal areas at risk of tidal flooding, especially during peak tide hours.

"Residents should also ensure that their local drainage systems are functioning properly to prevent water from pooling," he added.

Hence, the public can access real-time information via several official platforms:
